Setting up
A stand for the phone, a white golf ball, and a net or open range. Light on the ball matters most: daylight or a bright lamp. A dim room blurs the ball in flight and swings won’t read.
Placement. Turn the phone sideways on a stand, long edge along your target line. Either end can face the target. Set the stand directly across from the ball, square to your target line, about 6 ft across the floor.
Height and framing. Waist to chest height works. Keep the entire ball visible, with the ball toward the trailing side of the frame so the shot has room to fly.
Tilt. Aim the camera down at the ball as much as you need — the app measures the tilt. Keep the phone level side to side; don’t let it lean.
Ball and net. Use a white ball. Leave at least 5 ft between the ball and the net.
Second screens
iPad. Open Swing Season on the iPad and tap Display Mode. Both devices need the same Wi-Fi. Full course view needs an iPad with 8 GB of memory: any iPad Air or iPad Pro with an M-series chip, or iPad mini with A17 Pro. Other iPads show your shot numbers only.
TV. Connect the iPhone to a TV with an HDMI adapter.
Laptop. Open swingseason.app/display in a browser on a Mac or Windows laptop.
The iPad and the laptop pair with the code in Settings, under Second screen. A TV needs no code.
Apple Watch
Apple Watch is optional. With a round or range session running on your iPhone, the watch switches clubs, shows each shot’s numbers, and aims in the Simulator with the Digital Crown. To add it, open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Swing Season under Available Apps.
